On Sunday, we watched Pastor Mark’s sermon on Chapter 2 of Real Marriage entitled ‘Friend with Benefits’. Marriage is about friendship. Your spouse is to be your “lover and friend” (Song 5:16); in other words, your friend with benefits. Marital friendship is to be: Fruitful, Reciprocal, Intimate, Enjoyable, Needed, Devoted, Sanctifying. This sermon asked the following: How’s your friendship with Jesus? With your spouse?

Meet dArell Warren and Mirella Ramierez! dArrell and his wife Bernice lead the Greeting Team at Mars Hill West Seattle and Mirella is one of their faithful volunteers. If you are interested in serving on the Greeting Team or any other team click HERE or visit the connect desk on Sunday.

In light of baptisms coming up this Sunday, we wanted to take you back to our last round of baptisms in November. In the above video, Joshua Hood explains why he was baptized on November 6th. Josh was serving on the security team at Mars Hill West Seattle before his baptism but he has noticed a change since he got baptized.

I was serving before my baptism but I think I’ve only missed service one time since my baptism and my giving has been more regular and sacrificial.

Baptisms are coming up again this Sunday. It is really a work of the Holy Spirit that compels a believer to be baptized. Through baptism we are expressing that our old life has passed and we are born again in Spirit (John 3:5-6). On Tuesday, January 17th, 2012 Mark and Grace Driscoll were interviewed by ABC news reporter Dan Harris from ABC “Nightline.” The topic for the interview? The Driscoll’s new book Real Marriage, which hit #1 in the advice category of the NY Times Best Seller List last week. Mars Hill West Seattle was blessed to host the Driscoll’s and the ABC “Nightline” crew, who conducted the interview in the pews of the sanctuary that night.

Proxy is the student ministry at Mars Hill West Seattle and we exist to have fun, disciple students, and go out on mission to share the Gospel of Jesus with students in West Seattle.

On December 21, 2011, Proxy had a Student Christmas Party where students and leaders had a great night watching the movie Elf, playing games, drinking tons of soda, and dancing using the X-Box hooked up with a Kinect. We are advising those that don’t need to leave their homes to stay put until the roads are clear. Although we will not be starting the Midweek Classes today, there will still be all 4 classes but they will just be pushed back a bit. So the schedule will be as follows:

Week 1: 1/25

Week 2: 2/1

Week 3: 2/8

Week 4: 2/15

Along with this, the Member Meeting that was scheduled to be at 7pm on 2/15 will now be on Sunday, 2/19 from 2-3:30pm.

Childcare will still be available for all of these events. Also, we sent an email out to everyone that has signed up for these classes, but if you know someone personally, please make sure they are aware that the classes and Proxy are cancelled tonight!

THE GOOD NEWS: Come rain, sleet, or snow, Pastor Mark Driscoll will still be doing the Porn Again event tonight at 7pm @ the Neptune theater. Click on the link to watch the live streaming. Proxy Hip-Hop Concert with Willie Will
Wednesday, January 25th, 7-10pm at Mars Hill West Seattle

Rapper and Deacon of Mars Hill Church | Rainier Valley, Willie Will is going to join us and perform at a FREE concert for students 18 and under. This concert will also have a live DJ, dancing, and snacks! For more info and to RSVP click HERE.

Member Meeting
Sunday, February 19th, 2-3:30pm at Mars Hill West Seattle

On Sunday, February 19th, we’re going to gather as a church body for a family meeting. We will be celebrating God’s grace in his church, and discussing where we are headed this year. Proxy
Wednesdays at 7pm

Proxy is the junior high and high school (6th thru 8th grade) student ministry, which exists to reach students, connect them in community, teach them the truth of the Bible and equip them to live for Jesus. Church Clean-Up
Thursdays at 6pm

The Church Clean-Up ministry team supports the mission of Mars Hill Church by calling every member and attendee to abide in Christ through worship, community, and service, by preparing the facility God has blessed us with to welcome strangers, make disciples of Christ, and develop mature leaders who bear fruit as they live for Jesus. Community

We gather in Community Groups with our friends and neighbors to live life together and experience the gospel in ways we can’t on our own. They are a place to wrestle with the truths of the Bible, love one another, serve the city, and participate in the mission of God for Mars Hill.

Serving

The West Seattle campus welcomes hundreds of people each Sunday, and the need for more volunteers is always great–not only to fulfill certain roles, but to demonstrate love and care to our guests. But more than anything, blessing our guests and the church family through simple acts of self-sacrificial service is an act of worship and an opportunity to grow in relationship to each other and Jesus!

Giving

Giving cheerfully and sacrificially of our finances is part of our worship. A believer labors not to accrue personal wealth or possessions, but to steward God’s resources well and model Jesus to our brothers, sisters, and community.
